The tradition of philanthropy at CEU began with its founding in 1991. Today, generous support from public and private donors, including corporate citizens, foundations, alumni, and friends of CEU, ensures that students can learn in an environment that will foster their growth as global leaders and in the service of open and democratic societies.
Unrestricted gifts enable us to meet the University's most urgent needs and plan strategically for future growth, while allowing CEU to retain a high rate of tuition support for deserving students, regardless of financial circumstance. Charitable giving also allows the endowment — a precious resource for the future — to compound at a higher rate. Undesignated gifts ensure that CEU will continue to provide the highest quality graduate education for outstanding students from around the world.
I think that any strength I might have to defend human rights and constitutional order, to resist different forms of abuse of power, comes from everything that I have learned at CEU. Not only from books, not only from truly international and multicultural spirit of students, but mostly from great teachers that shared with me their ideals and expertise."
