CEU has been providing emergency support to students whose studies have been interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. And now, alumni and supporters around the world are being asked to help.
The university recently announced a special emergency fund to help provide housing, food, medical and psychological care, and tech support for students sheltered at the dorm – many in isolation – trying to complete their studies remotely.
In Academic Year 2019-20, 27 talented students from around the world are studying at CEU (Budapest and Vienna) thanks to supporters of the Alumni Scholarship. We thank our donors for supporting the largest class of Alumni Scholarship Recipients in CEU history.
CEU’s President and Rector Michael Ignatieff and his wife Zsuzsanna Zsohar have established the Presidential Scholars Fund in order to cultivate leadership potential and recognize outstanding academic achievement at the university.
There are few Roma people in academia, whether in Europe or the United States. One of the aims of Assistant Professor Angela Kocze is to change this through CEU’s Roma Graduate Preparation Program (RGPP), an initiative that supports young Roma graduates to succeed in the academic world. Kóczé is keenly aware of what is required: herself a Hungarian Roma, she was the first to go to high school in her extended family.
