Serdjan Baftijari | MA in Public Administration

Deborah Harding Scholarship

Serdjan holds a BA in International Relations and Diplomacy from the University of Montenegro. His commitment to addressing the socioeconomic issues affecting Roma communities brought him to CEU. He joined the CEU Roma Graduate Preparation Program in 2020-21, where he produced a compelling thesis that put forward a set of policy options to increase political participation and representation of the Roma community in Montenegro.

During his MA studies at CEU, Serdjan is deepening his understanding of critical issues affecting the Roma community while gaining the knowledge and skills necessary to make a difference in policymaking and policy reform, especially in the Western Balkans. To that end, he is active in working with civil society organizations at the local, national, and international levels in devising projects aimed at combating antigypsyism in Montenegro. Upon graduation, he aspires to pursue a career in the European Parliament.
